farrier

Marc qualified as a farrier in 2006 after a four year apprenticeship and passing the Worshipful Company of Farriers Dip.WCF examination. He then travelled overseas to further his farriery experience before returning to England in 2008 to start his own farriery practice based in Shropshire and Staffordshire.

Marc has a great interest in corrective farriery which led to him completing the Myerscough College foundation degree in farriery science which is an innovative course aimed at assessment of current farriery experience and knowledge along with new diagnostic technology to assess the balance of the horse's foot.

At the end of this course he took the Worshipful Company of Farriers AWCF examination which is an exam aimed at corrective farriery. A comprehensive knowledge of the horse's anatomy and remedial farriery is required.

Following that, Marc undertook the BSc (Hons) course to further his knowledge and expertise. During this time Marc wrote a dissertation on static and dynamic asymmetry in unbroken horses. Assessing the effects at pre and post trim. Marc passed the degree with first class honors and was awarded the Myerscough trophy for outstanding practical and theory grades.

However, the journey wasn't over yet, with a desire to undertake further research on the hoof, Marc completed a graduate diploma in Equine Locomotor Research at the Royal Veterinary College. This was now the fourth post graduate higher examination achieved and became the first person in history to complete all of these courses.

Most recently, Marc has been awarded the title of Certified Journeyman Farrier by the American Farrier's Association.

Marc now lectures at a Veterinary School whilst working with a variety of local Veterinary practices along with providing educational clinics to Farriers, Veterinarians and horse owners. He is the author of "The Hoofcare Companion".
